Backbends after cardio!

By LI Ashtangini

Last night I went to the gym and did about half an hour on the elliptical.  Then I went into the ‘group fitness’ room and did some seated poses, ustrasana then three UD’s.  I was nice and warm from the cardio and they felt so GOOD.  I’m counting that as yoga practice for my WoYoPracMo.  Tonight primary at home.

Before I went to the gym I went to the gyno.  She had put me on Lo/Ovral, which I’ve been on before for years, but this time I developed some nasty side effects like weight gain (um, I don’t need any extra weight that doesn’t come from actually eating food and being lazy, thankyouverymuch), headaches, insomnia and nasty mood swings.  I stopped taking it and made an appointment with her to go over some other options.  She gave me a sample of the NuvaRing, which I’m wearing RIGHT NOW.  Woo!  I know a few people who use it and they really like it.  She also recommended the Mirena, the new IUD that’s not copper and releases a small amount of progesterone.  BF was in favor of that one since it lasts for five years.  We’ll see how the NuvaRing goes.

Booooooooring.

Back to work!

i was on ortho-tri-cyclen three different times and had three completely different experiences. go figure. i have a few friends who use an IUD and LOVE it. mirena is also supposed to make your periods lighter. hey, maybe i will go get one of those.

Yes, she was kind of gently ‘nudging’ me toward the mirena, LOL. I’ve never had problems with any pill until now. So weird. Guess I’m gettin’ old. A friend of mine has an IUD and she loves it.

I had the NuvaRing for a few years and I did like it. Did have some annoying discharge that never went away so I went back on the pill (Lutera) which has been fine. But I’m with you, I only want to gain weight honestly, by eating YUMMY things!!!

I’d like to get off my pill because I like my hormones au naturel… But does anyone use barrier methods these days? Diaphragms sound like something from my grandma’s generation. Pfft, I’m going to have to talk to a French gyno about this.

Nuva gave me debilitating migraines, (but my NP reasoned this was be because my estrogen is naturally low so I’d have withdrawal symptoms when I removed it.) In any case, it was the one method that has ever given me trouble. And besides the headaches, it was good.

Maybe it was the Nuva Ring that caused your backbends to feel so great.

The yoga feels pretty nice after a piece of cardio on the elliptical trainer, eh? I like it best this way, though I feel just a bit like I’m not following the program as intended. But with the cardio plus home practice, I’ve been sticking to the series so that should help me on yoga judgement day, right?
